The cost of groceries is rising, putting additional strain on household budgets across Michigan. For underserved families, the Double Up Food Bucks Program offers increased access to locally grown fruits and vegetables for Bridge Card holders. Oryana is proud to be the sole Double Up Food Bucks location in Traverse City and to do our part to support families and farmers.

What Is the Double Up Food Bucks Program?

Since 2009, the program has helped thousands of families access twice as many fresh fruits and vegetables. It’s a simple premise: when you use your Bridge Card, the Double Up program matches your fruit and vegetable purchase dollar for dollar. The program makes it more affordable to fill your basket with local produce, helping families and farmers across the state.

Who’s Eligible to Use Double Up Food Bucks?

Thousands of Michigan families and individuals are eligible for the program. To access Double Up Food Bucks, you need to:

  • Have an active EBT/Bridge Card
  • Be on SNAP
  • Fill out a quick sign-up sheet (at some locations)

To learn more about food assistance programs in Michigan or apply for a Bridge Card, check with the State of Michigan to check your eligibility.

Where Can I Use Double Up Food Bucks?

Oryana is currently the only grocery store in Traverse City that participates in the program. Across Michigan, however, there are over 240 participating locations and seasonal farmers’ markets that accept Double Up Food Bucks. You can view a full list of locations here.

Celebrate Double Up Food Bucks Awareness Month

Michigan is committed to offering affordable, fresh and frozen local produce, starting with an increase in the daily limit. As of May 1, 2026, shoppers can now earn up to $50 per day in Double Up Food Bucks, up from the previous daily limit of $20. The move allows households to purchase more groceries in a single trip to the store, reducing transportation costs and time commitments.

That promises to increase the program’s statewide impact significantly. In 2025, SNAP and Double Up benefits generated $12.5 million in local produce sales and helped 190,000 households enjoy local offerings.
