Fall Cheese Picks
Fall is a great time to enjoy some delicious cheeses. We just happen to have a great selection at both locations. (If you are visiting Oryana West, be sure to ask our cheese monger for recommendations.) A cheese plate is perfect for when you don’t feel like cooking and it’s good finger food at your fall outings. Here are some cheesy suggestions from Jacob, our cheese buyer at Oryana 10th St.
Hutin Brie
This brie is so good served with fresh summer fruit and berries. It has a rich, smooth flavor and would be lovely in a gourmet picnic basket along with a crusty baguette and bottle of wine.
Cream Cup Cheese Curds
These Michigan-made cheese curds have a delightful firm bite to them and make the perfect road trip or picnic snack. Serve with some summer sausage and wheat crackers and you’ve got yourself a great snack.
Beemster Graskaas
Summer Beemster Graskaas is a very special cheese because it’s only made at this time of year. It’s made from the milk from cows that have dined on the first spring grasses. The milk from this specific period is the creamiest and yields the finest cheese. It’s produced in limited quantities so when it’s gone, it’s gone for the year.
Grillies Original Grilling Cheese
Grillies cheese can be cooked on your grill! Cut it into slabs, toss it on the grill and cook until it’s hot and grill marked, and serve with crusty bread and fresh heirloom tomatoes. Simple and fabulous.
Violife Mature Cheddar Slices
For vegans, you can’t beat this cheese alternative. It has a really nice texture and tang and is great on sandwiches or to melt atop your veggie burger.
