Overnight Oats
Overnight oats are a convenient, healthy breakfast, perfect for busy mornings. You don’t really need to follow a strict recipe to make great overnight oats as they are very forgiving and you can add various flavorful ingredients and use different ratios of liquid depending on how thick you like your oats. But here is a recipe for plain overnight oats that you can jazz up any way you like.
1/3 cup old fashioned rolled oats
1/3 cup dairy or plant milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1-2 tablespoons maple syrup
pinch sea salt
optional: 1 teaspoon chia seeds
optional: 1/3 cup yogurt, dairy or plant
Combine all ingredients in a jar or glass container with a tight fitting lid. Stir and make sure the oats are completely submerged in liquid. Make sure there is a little bit of room in the jar for expansion. Cover and let sit in the refrigerator overnight. In the morning you can add fresh fruit, chopped nuts, nut butter, etc. If you only have frozen fruit, mix it in the night before so it will be thawed when you are ready to eat it.
