Turkey Scallion Nuggets with Tamari Maple Glaze
1 lb ground turkey
1/3 cup breadcrumbs
1/3 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
3 scallions, finely chopped
1 egg
1 tablespoon tamari
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
black pepper
coconut oil for frying
Glaze
1/4 cup tamari
1/4 maple syrup
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup mirin
1/4 teaspoon dry ginger
- Whisk the glaze ingredients together in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and simmer until reduced and thickened, about 15 minutes.
- Combine the turkey, breadcrumbs, cilantro, scallions, egg, tamari, sesame oil and several grinds of black pepper in a bowl. Form heaping tablespoons of meat mixture into football shapes.
- Melt 1 – 2 tablespoons coconut oil over medium heat in a heavy skillet and fry the nuggets, turning to brown all sides, until cooked through, about 15 minutes. Serve drizzled with glaze.
