Snacks for Lunch
What should I make for lunch?
What should I make for my child’s lunch?
Rather than thinking of lunch in terms of one main dish or typical sandwich, look around instead for components you can put together in a fun, delicious, and satisfying combination. This is a great approach for kid and adult lunches alike. It’s like a personal snack board or to use a trendy term, like a “girl dinner.” (Scroll down for more lunch photos.)
It can be any combination of foods you like, but a balanced combo that includes protein, something salty, something crunchy, something sweet, something raw, something creamy, etc. will be the most tasty and nourishing. Small containers, small Stasher silicone bags, 4 oz. mason jars, baby food jars, etc. are super helpful for assembling your lunch, or a bento lunch box with compartments would be great too.
You probably already have numerous things in your fridge and pantry for a decent lunch snack box. But here some of the things we included in our lunch combos (below):
- deviled eggs
- pretzels
- sliced cheese & deli meat
- crackers
- sesame sticks
- cherry tomatoes
- pickles
- granola
- chocolate almonds
- fresh fruit
- cookies
- cream cheese roll-ups
- chocolate almonds
- peanut butter
