Oven Fried Whitefish
1 large egg
1 teaspoon water
1/2 cup fine bread crumbs
1/2 teaspoon lemon-pepper seasoning
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon sea salt, divided
1/4 cup flour
2 large whitefish filets, cut into halves or thirds (about 1 ½ lbs)
Olive oil
Cooking spray
Lemon wedges
Tartar sauce
- Heat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone pad. Drizzle lightly with olive oil and smear the oil over the parchment or pad.
- In a shallow bowl or pie pan, place the bread crumbs, onion powder, lemon pepper, and ½ teaspoon salt; mix together. In another bowl, whisk the egg, water, and ½ teaspoon salt together. In a third bowl, place the flour.
- Dredge a filet in the flour to thoroughly coat. Dip in the egg, and then coat with seasoned bread crumbs. Place on prepared pan skin side down. Repeat with remaining filets. Spray filets generously with cooking spray. Bake for 20 minutes or until the fish flakes in the middle. Serve hot with lemon wedges and tartar sauce.
